South Windsor Public Schools Invention Convention
Saturday, February 1, 2020 - 9:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
 Timothy Edwards Middle School

All South Windsor 5th graders have been busy in STEM classes and at home creating inventions that are based on real world problems. At the upcoming Invention Convention, small groups of students will present their inventions to judges who will score them on originality, the inventing process, effectiveness, practicality, and need. Following this event, some honored inventors will be selected to showcase their invention at the State Finals this spring. Parents and community members are invited to join us to observe these presentations and the creative innovations that are on display.

We are proud to provide 5th graders with this unique opportunity to encourage critical thinking and problem solving skills, as well as continue to foster an interest in STEM careers. Fifth graders have been studying about character traits of inventors in their humanities unit, and this ties in nicely with our work in STEM. This project is completed during STEM classes, and inventions are made at home.

PLEASE NOTE: Students from each of the four elementary schools will report to TEMS at different times; students are urged to check with their STEM teacher for the exact time.
