2024 Patriotic Commission Essay & Poster Contest

The South Windsor Patriotic Commission is pleased to announce its annual essay and poster contest is now open. The contest is open to any South Windsor resident who is a student anywhere in grades K-12 and any non-resident student in grades K-12, attending a South Windsor district school. 

The contest features essay topics for three different grade levels, and posters for students in grades K-2:

Grades
K-2
    POSTER - Create a poster depicting, "My favorite place to see the American flag (name the place)"
(Maximum size 12” x 14”) 
Grades
3-5
    ESSAY - "My favorite Connecticut patriot and why."
(300 words or less)

Grades
6-8
    ESSAY - "What does patriotism mean to me?"
(350 words or less) 
Grades
9-12
    ESSAY - "My favorite American patriot and why."
(500 words or less)


All entries must be received by the Patriotic Commission no later than
