Dear Eli Terry Families,
As we settle into the second month of the school year, we’d like to share an update on our school-wide attendance. At Eli Terry, our attendance team meets each month to look closely at this data because we know that being in school every day helps students grow, learn, and connect with their classmates. By keeping an eye on attendance trends, we can spot patterns early and work together with families to support students who may be having a tough time getting to school regularly.
Here are some of the highlights from September's data review. As of September 30th, 23 days of school were offered and:
-
43 students (7.9%) are considered "chronically absent" - This means they have missed 10% or more of the days we've been in school. The state aims to have no more than 5% of students considered chronically absent.
-
Grades 4 & 5 have the largest number of students considered chronically absent with 8 each.
-
Kindergarten the lowest number of student considered chronically absent with 2. - Kindergarten has historically had the most students chronically absent in September—but not this year! Our youngest learners are showing up and starting strong. Way to go, Kindergarten!
- Our average daily attendance was 97%.This is above the state's goal of 95%.
-
Kindergarten had the highest average daily attendance with 97.29%.
-
Grade 1 had the lowest average daily attendance with 95.83%.
We remain committed to ensuring that every student is present, engaged, and ready to learn. Thank you for your partnership in supporting regular attendance and helping us build a strong learning community.
