Dear Eli Terry Families,
Our attendance team met to review our monthly, as well as cumulative, attendance data. Below we highlight our celebrations and areas of growth by the numbers!
Celebrations
-
Our average daily percent present is 96.8%; that's the second month in a row we've exceeded our goal of 95!
-
Grade 1 had the highest average percent present with 97.28%! Grade 1 has the lowest average present present in September! Nice job!!!
- We are within .49% of our chronic absenteeism goal set at 5%.
Areas of Growth
- 25 students (5.49%) are considered "chronically absent".
- Out of the 25 students, 7 third-graders are considered "chronically absent".
-
Kindergarten had the lowest average percent present; just meeting 96%.
Following each data review, attendance letters are sent to families whose students have "flagged". These communications come via e-mail, but are also available, along with additional attendance information, in your PowerSchool Parent Portal. We encourage all our families to use these features to help monitor your child(ren)'s attendance, tardies, and early dismissals. Often families don't realize how quickly days added up!

On Tuesday, November 11th, Eli Terry held its annual Veterans Day Assembly. This special event was attended by 33 Veterans. Our student ambassadors served as MCs for the ceremony, which was filled with patriotic songs and heartfelt gratitude. Together, Eli Terry students and staff raised $1,182 for South Windsor’s American Legion Wreaths Across America program. A huge thank you to General Music Teacher Susan Leach and Instrumental Music Teacher Marta Kwiczor, who organized this amazing assembly.

As we enter the holiday season, we wanted to share Eli Terry’s “Favorite Things” with you! This is a fun way to learn more about what your child’s team of teachers enjoys and appreciates.

The Connecticut Invention Convention is a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering an interest in STEM careers by encouraging critical thinking and problem-solving skills. This unique science fair, a long-standing tradition for South Windsor students, gives participants the opportunity to design and create their own inventions to solve real-world problems.
Throughout the program, students will explore invention design, brainstorming techniques, and ways to reflect on challenges in their lives and the world around them. While most of the project will be completed independently at home, there will be one virtual work session and one additional in-person work session where students can receive feedback and support on their process.
