Dear Eli Terry Families,
After a weekend snowstorm that brought more snow than we’ve seen in years from a single event, we returned to school for a quick three day week. It was great to welcome students back after the unexpected long weekend and jump right back into learning.
Monday is Groundhog Day! We’ll be keeping an eye out to see whether the groundhog sees his shadow. Here’s hoping he doesn’t and predicts an early spring. After the recent snow and cold temperatures, we could all use a little extra sunshine and warmer weather ahead!
Warm (literally!) regards,
Mike & Kelley

Grades 3-5: Spring State Assessments

This spring, students will participate in state assessments as part of our annual testing cycle. Our teachers work diligently throughout the year to prepare students for success, and the results help inform our instructional practices to best support student learning.
Please see the link below for a letter from our Assistant Superintendent, Tracie Peterson. More information will be shared as we approach the testing window.

The Eugene Policelli Service Award

Do you know someone who deserves an award for their volunteer service?
The South Windsor Board of Education invites residents, or employees of a South Windsor business or organization to nominate someone who has volunteered their time for the betterment of the South Windsor community.

The Eugene Policelli Service Awards were established by the Board of Education to recognize and honor Dr. Eugene Policelli’s service to the town of South Windsor.

More about the award can be found here, as well as within this letter of designation from the South Windsor Board of Education's Chairwoman Coursey.

To make a nomination, please complete this Google Form, and the award selection committee will then reach out to the nominee to inform them of the nomination, explain the award program, ask the nominee if they would like to formally apply for the award (and provide them with the application).
The nomination deadline is February 22, 2026.

Please reach out to Benjamin Wry, South Windsor High School's School Counseling Curriculum Specialist, at 860-648-5003 or bwry@southwindsorschools.org, with any questions or concerns. Thank you!

Global Play Day is on February 12th!

Global Play Day is a day dedicated to the importance of play in children’s learning and development. On this day, students engage in open-ended, screen-free play that encourages creativity, collaboration, problem-solving, and social connection.
Through play, students build critical skills such as communication, perseverance, and teamwork—skills that support both academic learning and overall well-being. Global Play Day provides an opportunity for students to learn in a joyful, meaningful way while strengthening relationships with peers.
