10/23 News from Eli Terry

Posted Date: 10/23/26 (04:23 PM)

October 23, 2026

Dear Eli Terry Families,
What a wonderful Unity Day celebration we had at Eli Terry! It was inspiring to see our students and staff come together to celebrate kindness, inclusion, and the importance of appreciating and respecting one another's differences.
While Unity Day is a special celebration, its message is one we hope to carry with us every single day. Our goal is for Eli Terry to be a place where everyone feels valued, included, and a true sense of belonging. It is the everyday acts of kindness, acceptance, and respect that make our school community so special.
A heartfelt thank you to Mr. Huck, our 5th grade peer mediators, Mrs. Leach, Mrs. Kwiczor, and our Literacy Committee for organizing such a meaningful assembly and celebration. Your efforts helped remind us all of what makes Eli Terry such a wonderful place to learn and grow.
Let's continue to make every day Unity Day at Eli Terry!

Change in Dismissal Plans Reminder

As a reminder, families MUST contact the school office before 2:00 PM with any changes to their child's dismissal plans. Our school office becomes extremely busy at the end of the day, and this deadline allows our office staff sufficient time to communicate changes to classroom teachers and ensure that students are dismissed safely and efficiently.
We appreciate your cooperation in following this important procedure as we work together to ensure a safe and organized dismissal for all students and staff. Thank you for your understanding and support!

Costume Day – Friday, October 30!

We are excited to celebrate Costume Day at Eli Terry on Friday, October 30! Students are invited to wear their favorite costumes to school. As you plan your child's costume, please remember that masks and costume props (such as wands, swords, and other accessories) are not permitted. Costumes should be school-appropriate and allow students to safely participate in all school activities throughout the day.

Portrait of a Terrier: Authentic Learning & Making a Difference

Next week, our Portrait of a Terrier focus will be on Authentic Learning & Making a Difference! Engaged learners recognize that what they learn in school can make a positive difference in the world around them. They ask themselves, “How can I make this better?” and use their knowledge and skills to help others.
Our challenge for students next week:
  • Grades K–3: Use something you've learned in class to help a friend.
  • Grades 4–5: Identify a problem in your classroom or school and brainstorm a way to make it better.
Families: Encourage your child to think about how they can use what they are learning to make a positive difference at home, at school, or in their community!

This Coming Monday: State-Required Student Vision/Hearing Screenings

Please see the following link for a letter from our school nurses to families of students in Grades K, 1, 3, 4, and 5.
