Dear Eli Terry Families,
What a fun and exciting Costume Day at Eli Terry! Our students had an amazing time showing off their creative costumes, and the excitement and smiles on their faces throughout the day were priceless! It was wonderful to see so much joy and laughter filling our school!
Wishing all of our Eli Terry families who celebrate Halloween a fun, safe, and spooktacular time! Whether you're trick-or-treating, dressing up in costumes, or enjoying time with family and friends, we hope your Halloween is filled with laughter, smiles, and plenty of sweet treats! Today, we came together as a whole school for our Portrait of a Terrier Engaged Assembly! We celebrated the many ways our students have demonstrated what it means to be Engaged throughout the first two months of school. One student from each classroom was recognized with an Engaged Student Certificate for exemplifying this important attribute. We are so proud of all of our students for their curiosity, participation, and commitment to learning!
Our amazing 5th grade student ambassadors also helped us kick off our next Portrait of a Terrier attribute: Empowered! Over the coming months, we will focus on what it means to believe in ourselves, take responsibility for our actions and learning, and empower others to do the same.
We can't wait to see our students continue to grow and shine as empowered learners and leaders!

Next week, we are excited to kick off our new Portrait of a Terrier attribute: Empowered! At Eli Terry, being empowered means believing in ourselves and taking responsibility for our learning and actions.
Our weekly focus is "I Believe in Myself!" We want all students to recognize their unique strengths, embrace challenges with a positive mindset, and understand that with effort and perseverance, they can learn, grow, and accomplish great things!
Our Terrier Challenges for Next Week:
- Grades K–3: Identify one thing you are proud of being able to do and remind yourself, "I can learn and grow!"
- Grades 4–5: Think about something that feels challenging and shift your thinking from "I can't do this" to "I believe I can figure this out with effort!"
Families, you can help reinforce this message at home! Ask your child, "What is something you are proud of learning?" or "What is something you want to get better at?" Celebrate their effort, growth, and willingness to try new things.

The SW Patriotic Commission is inviting any military parent or relative attending ET’s Veterans Day program to visit South Windsor High School afterward, if available, to share their military experiences with a high school classroom. Each classroom visit would last approximately 20 minutes or less.
Additionally, the SW Patriotic Commission supports the Home of the Brave CT military banner program, which honors South Windsor residents, past and present, who have served in the military, whether living or deceased.

As a reminder, families MUST contact the school office before 2:00 PM with any changes to their child's dismissal plans. Our school office becomes extremely busy at the end of the day, and this deadline allows our office staff sufficient time to communicate changes to classroom teachers and ensure that students are dismissed safely and efficiently.
We appreciate your cooperation in following this important procedure as we work together to ensure a safe and organized dismissal for all students and staff. Thank you for your understanding and support!
